The always offbeat San Francisco Fringe Festival is in full swing, featuring uncensored performances for the open-minded theatre fan featuring artists from countries across the globe. Music alumna Brandi Brandes is among them, as her original composition accompanies “Legs and All.”
“Legs and All” is a new short by comedienne Summer Shapiro, also featuring Peter Musante of the New York Blue Man Group. Legs shoot out from a box, dinner times turn to drum brigades, and fights turn to tango dancing. Brandes plays live percussion on top of pre-recorded strings, percussion and piano. Shapiro developed “Legs and All” with Brandes at the Climate Theatre, where they are resident artists.
Last year Brandes (B.A., ’07) garnered critical acclaim for her work in the Magic Theatre production of Betty Shamieh’s “Territories.” Next month she will play keyboards in a production of The Who’s rock opera “Tommy” at the Victoria Theatre in San Francisco.
