Professor named to his alma mater's hall of fame
Professor Emeritus Arthur Asa Berger can now add “hall of famer” to his prolific curriculum vita. He will be inducted into the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication Hall of Fame later this month.
Berger, who taught in the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Department from 1965 to 2003, is a renowned popular culture scholar, critic and author. He has written 60 books on media, popular culture, visual culture and writing. Berger has authored textbooks, scholarly works, practical manuals and a series of teaching novels for classroom use. He frequently provides pop culture commentary to the press.
Berger earned his Master of Arts from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication University of Iowa. His doctorate is from University of Minnesota.
