Alumna Kristine Sinajon stood out in her solo at the San Francisco Sinfonietta’s 30th annual Handel’s “Sing It Yourself Messiah” concert on Dec. 14 at Davies Symphony Hall.
The mezzo-soprano, featured Dec. 13 in the Asian Journal, won her solo performance in a 2007 competition. San Francisco Sinfonietta Conductor Urs Leonhardt Steiner invited Sinajon to return this year for the oratorio featuring the audience members as the chorus.
Sinajon (B.M., ’04) performed with the SF State Chamber Singers during her time in the University’s School of Music and Dance. Recently, she played the role of Didang in the San Francisco Arts Commission-sponsored work “Lalawigan,” by classical guitarist Florante Aguilar. Sinajon is active in the Archdiocese of San Francisco as a cantor, serving as director of music at St. Brendan Church and cantor at the Commission of the Simbang Gabi at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
