No doubting alumna's talents directing plays

showphotodoubt1Alumna Timothy Near again left little doubt about her talents, directing the Pulitzer and Tony winning drama “Doubt”at Center Rep Theatre in Walnut Creek.

In a Nov. 5 Contra Costa Times review, Sally Hogarty writes: “Skillfully directed by Timothy Near, the riveting drama tells of Father Flynn, a popular young Catholic priest at a parish school.” John Patrick Shanley’s play explores the accusations of an older nun, Sister Aloysius, that Flynn has been having an inappropriate relationship with a boy in the eighth-grade.

Near, former artistic director of the San Jose Repertory Theatre, most recently directed “Uncle Vanya” for Cal Shakespeare.
