Dame Edna's daughter is an alum

Dame Edna brings her latest show to San Francisco, where her daughter Valmai attended college. OK, the alum is actually the actress who plays the daughter of the international housewife, megastar, fashion icon and swami.

Erin-Kate Whitcomb, who studied Drama at SF State from 1985 to 1990, landed a rare supporting role in what are generally solo acts by Dame Edna, as played by Australian comedian Barry Humphries for more than 50 years. As Valmai, Whitcomb gets to perform a singing and dancing solo.

“Dame Edna: Live and Intimate in Her First Last Tour,“ plays through Jan. 4 at the Post Street Theatre. The show travels to Southern California and Florida next year.
