"Cream ... from the top" is an annual exhibition of the best Master of Fine Arts recipients in the Bay Area of the year. The 2008 edition includes the "Video Textiles" installation by SF State's Jessica Walker and is on display through Aug. 31 at Arts Benicia.Walker is among 15 newly minted M.F.A.s from seven Northern California colleges featured in this year's "Cream" exhibition. "Video Textiles" also appeared in the SF State Fine Arts Gallery in the spring semester, as part of the Art Department's annual M.F.A. show. She discussed her installation in an Aug. 8 article in the (Vallejo) Times-Herald."I see my recent work as mythic archaeology," Walker said in the article. "Merging handmade and digital processes, I treat video as a fluid material composed of time-based patterns that can be dissected and reassembled."
